Over the past 12½ years, Albert A. van Daalen has developed into a business advisor with a focus on commercial real estate

It is fascinating to look back on this period and observe how his life has unfolded since his interview with Het Financieele Dagblad* on October 12, 2011. At that time, he had just embarked on a new chapter in his career, dedicating himself entirely to business plans and corporate financing.

One of Albert Einstein’s famous quotes is, “Failure is success in progress.” Although Van Daalen initially encountered setbacks in his journey to success, facing non-performance of contractual obligations by business relations, he persevered and overcame significant obstacles. Van Daalen: “Spiritually, during our ups and downs, we are tasked with keeping our eyes solely on the goal ahead. That mindset keeps us going.”

Now, 12½ years later, Van Daalen has traversed an impressive trajectory. His dedication to his field of business consultancy has borne fruit. He has not only achieved professional success but has also had a profound impact on those around him. His role as a mentor and advisor, drawing from his expertise as a corporate finance professional, has inspired and assisted many in realizing their business.

Over the past year, Van Daalen has shifted his focus towards real estate intermediation for business clients. Financing real estate without involving banks has become a growing demand. Not only entrepreneurs but also real estate investors are seeking loans for real estate or investment properties. Additionally, for financiers, property collateral provides a desirable investment option.

The number of financings through banks has decreased in recent years. In a recent podcast by BNR, Hein Wegdam, director of ING Real Estate Finance Banking, referred to the emergence of alternative providers as “a very welcome addition.” For those seeking real estate financing, the bank is no longer the sole option. Furthermore, as a real estate professional, Van Daalen intermediates not only for financing or purchase of commercial property in the Netherlands and Spain, but thanks to his network also for other countries within and outside Europe.

Looking back on his journey, we see an entrepreneur who has translated his unwavering ambition into tangible results and a minister who continues to advocate for social causes such as the right to a roof over one’s head, and the right to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion. Both his social and scientific work are funded by his profitable businesses.
